PUT YOUR BODY
IN GOOD HANDS
Release, Relax, Unwind
Modern life is full of situations which can push us to our limit to be able to cope. As a result we end up with tension in our bodies often muscular at first, proceeding to cause other physiological and emotional imbalances such as gastro-intestinal complaints and depression and anxiety. In Chinese Medicine these imbalances are perceived to be disturbances or stuckness in the flow of energy and fluids causing dis-ease. Acupuncture and Chinese Medical Massage are our tools to remove obstructions to this free flow.
At Harmony Acupuncture all effort is made to support you in your return to a balanced way of being.
My fascination with this ancient Healing Art began a long time ago. But it was not until I was struck down with illness myself, that I discovered the potential of Chinese Medicine. My own healing journey inspired me to study Acupuncture and become an acupuncturist myself.
"When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything."
- Lao Tzu
Based on the idea, that the human body has an intricate network of meridians/channels through which Qi (equivalent of life energy) and Blood flow in a sequential pattern, dis-ease ensues when this flow is disrupted. Acupuncture attempts to re-establish the flow by accessing the network of channels /meridians at precise locations by means of a needle - the tool of the trade. Acupressure and Chinese medical Massage use fingers and hands instead.
The locations and indications of the Acupuncture Points have been studied for over 2000 years. A truly empirical medicine!
Working along the principle, that each person is unique in how their body systems function and regulate themselves, the acupuncturist attempts to assist in re-establishing harmony (homeostasis) by choosing a point prescription tailored to the needs of the individual.
Chinese Medical Massage
THIS TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE TO WOMEN ONLY
Chinese Medical Massage - also called Tuina is considered the oldest system of bodywork which is still practiced today. It translates as "pushing" and "grasping". It is one of eight modalities of traditional Chinese Medicine -Acupuncture being another one.
Just as Acupuncture it is based on the concept, that balance in all aspects of life is required for harmonious well-being it works on releasing blockages in the flow of Qi and Blood using hands, fingers, knuckles, forearms and elbows instead of needles. It can also include Cupping, Gua Sha or the burning of Moxa ( Chinese Mugwort).
Chinese Massage can be both energizing and relaxing. I will tailor it to your needs. It can assist in a variety of complaints including menstrual problems, digestive disorders and mental -emotional imbalances, either in conjunction with acupuncture or on its own.
Please do wear loose, comfortable clothing. Though often relaxing, this is primarily medical massage performed through clothing.
Facial Enhancement Acupuncture
Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (FEA) is enjoying ever increasing popularity as a natural alternative to more invasive anti-ageing treatments. It is primarily aimed at reducing lines and sagging skin, which appear as part of the ageing process, but also due to stress, life style and diet. the complexion
Fine needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points as well as directly into problem areas such as scars, wrinkles and sagging or tired looking muscles and skin to improve micro-circulation of Qi, blood and lymph, therefore contributing to a more radiant complexion. Moreover, the minute trauma created by needle insertion triggers the body's response to increase collagen production, which it sends to the site of 'injury'. In turn this arrival of collagen begins to fill in the spaces which were lacking it, thus smoothing out targeted lines.
In age collagen production reduces significantly naturally.
FEA stimulates the body to carry on producing it and delivering it to where we want it.
